Tigers tally highest hitting percentage in Snyder era and move on to NCCAA finals

CU will play winner of Warner University and Ottawa University in finals at 4:00

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. — Tiger volleyball earned another sweep in Pool Play of the National Christian College Athletic Association Invitational and No. 2 Campbellsville will now play in the finals tonight. 
 
The Tigers won 25-17, 25-17, 25-14 over Geneva College for their third sweep in the last 24 hours. Campbellsville will now play at 4 p.m. ET in the finals against the winner of Pool A between Ottawa University and Warner University. 
 
Campbellsville (6-0) was led by reigning NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week Rafael Cruz and Mid-South Conference Defender of the Week Ramon Matos with nine kills each. Ryan Smith and Mats Radzuwelt both finished with seven kills, while Joudiel Poveymirow tallied six. 

The biggest stat on Saturday morning was the 10 service aces for the Tigers – five of them from Poveymirow. The 10 aces is a season-high for CU and the five for Poveymirow is a career-high. 
 
Overall, the Tigers were very efficient in their attacks by hitting an astonishing .485 overall through the three sets with 41 kills on 66 attacks and only nine errors – another season-high mark and a match-high in the Eric Snyder era. 
 
On the flip side, Geneva tallied only 19 kills on 59 attacks and hit just .102. Campbellsville held Geneva to only recording six, seven and six kills, respectively in each set. 
 
Campbellsville now has three wins in Pool B – all sweeps – over Judson University, Greenville University and now Geneva. 
 
Ottawa and Warner are both 2-0 so far in Pool A. Ottawa defeated Maranatha in three sets and Trinity Christian in four sets. Warner swept both Trinity Christian and Maranatha. Those two teams started their match at 11 a.m. ET and the winner will face Campbellsville in the finals.
