CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Mid-South Conference play will get back into full action for the new year as the Campbellsville University women's basketball team will host their first of four games in seven days this Saturday when they host Cumberland University at 2 p.m. ET at the Powell Athletic Center.

Matt Payton will be on the call on Saturday as Tiger basketball will take on the Phoenix on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET or approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.
The day will be full of CU women's basketball festivities as Campbellsville University will be recognizing the program for reaching the 1,000 wins milestone earlier this season and senior
Madison Faulkner being honored for reaching 1,000 career-points pregame as the players will receive their 2018-19 Mid-South Conference Championship rings at halftime of the men's game.
The Lady Tigers have been away from game action since Dec. 19 when they defeated Martin Methodist College 84-66 at home to finish off the 2019 calendar year.
In the game against the Redhawks, CU faced their first halftime deficit of the season as MMC led 43-42 after 20 minutes of play. A career-high 30 points from Faulkner helped the Lady Tigers get ahead and pull away in the second half as she also scored 15 of the team's 27 points in the third quarter.
SERIES FACTS
- Campbellsville and Cumberland have been facing off in women's basketball since the early 90s with the Lady Tigers
- Campbellsville is currently on a 12-game winning streak that dates back to Jan. 4, 2014 when the Lady Tigers earned a 70-66 win on the road in Lebanon.
- Prior to the current 12-game stretch the Phoenix won three-straight against Campbellsville for a season sweep of the Lady Tigers over three games during the 2012-13 season that included a Mid-South Conference Tournament win.
- Last season, the Lady Tigers earned a pair of large margins of victory wins last season against Cumberland with a 90-51 win at home and a 67-42 win on the road in 2019.
- Last season's wins came in slightly different fashions as it took a career-high 25 from Savannah Gregory on Jan. 31 on the road when on the Jan. 10 meeting, five different Lady Tigers scored in double figures led by the 18 points and 17 points from seniors Jordan Doram and Madison Kaiser.
BEST START IN PROGRAM HISTORY
- With the Lady Tigers off to a 15-0 start to the 2019-20 season, CU enters the calendar year with their longest winning streak to start a season in program history.
- Prior to this season, the best unbeaten streak to start a season for Campbellsville women's basketball came in the 2014-15 season when they started 10-0.
- After losing their 11th game, the Lady Tigers proceeded to win 13-straight to move to 23-1 before eventually finishing with a 33-4 record and a trip to the NAIA National Championship game where they eventually fell to Oklahoma City University.
- The 2019 portion of the schedule has been a pretty dominant one for Campbellsville as well with a +27.6 scoring margin, good for No. 2 in the NAIA as they have 12 total double digit wins and eight wins by 20 or more points.
SCOUTING CUMBERLAND
- The Phoenix head into the bulk of Mid-South Conference play after finishing the non-conference season with a 5-7 record including a pair of losses inside the Mid-South Conference.
- Their two games in the MSC during the month of December came against Shawnee State and Pikeville with SSU winning by a final of 77-69 and UPike earning an 84-52 victory.
- Despite a record under the .500 mark, the Phoenix hold a positive scoring margin just slightly at +1.5 points per game.
- Brittany Miller leads the way on the glass for Cumberland averaging eight rebounds per game, good for 33rd in the NAIA while also scoring 9.2 points per game.
TIGER CLAWZ
- Campbellsville is the No. 1 assisting team in NAIA Division I with a team total of 298 so far behind starting point guard Caitlin Hall's 93 assists, good for No. 2 individually in that category.
- Forcing turnovers has been a big part of the CU game plan through the early portion of the schedule as they force their opponents into 27.1 turnovers per game and rank second in NAIA DI in total steals at 235 this season.
- The three-point shot has been a big benefit for the Lady Tiger offense as they rank No. 2 in the NAIA in team three-point percentage at 39.5 percent behind one of the best three-point shooters in NAIA DI as Lexy Lake ranks No. 1 in total threes made (55), No. 3 in threes made per game (3.7), and No. 9 in three-point percentage (47.8%).
INDIVIDUAL MILESTONES WATCH
- Upper classmen in the CU starting lineup have been and will be climbing the all-time leader boards in the history of Lady Tiger basketball.
- Starting with Madison Faulkner joining the 1,000-point club, she now sits at 32nd on the all-time scoring list and will likely have a teammate join her on that list as Savannah Gregory currently sits at 953 career points.
- Gregory is also in the top-five on the career steals list as she is currently at 268, recently passing Beth Grant for fifth all-time.
- Senior guard Caitlin Hall currently has 506 career assists, good for sixth place and recently becoming the sixth player to reach 500 assists in program history.
1,000-WIN PLATEAU
- In the 45th season of Lady Tiger basketball history, Campbellsville reached a milestone that had only been accomplished twice before in the history of NAIA women's basketball, win 1,000 games as a program.
- The monumental win came in CU's 91-59 win over Martin Methodist College last Saturday in Pulaski, Tenn. as part of the MSC/SSAC Crossover Challenge.
- Campbellsville joins Wayland Baptist and Union University (Tenn.) as the only other programs to reach the feat as Union is no longer part of the NAIA after moving to the NCAA Division II level.
UP NEXT FOR CU
- Campbellsville will stay plenty busy in Mid-South Conference play coming off of the holiday break as they will continue to play three more games over five days next week starting with a trip to Marietta, Ga. on Monday at 6 p.m. ET to take on Life University.
- After the single road game next Monday, the Lady Tigers will host Pikeville and Shawnee State on Jan. 9 and Jan. 11 at home to close out a four games in seven days stretch.
