Lady Tigers return to the Powell Athletic Center for Thursday evening matchup with Pikeville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – In the middle of their heaviest workload week of the season, the Campbellsville University women's basketball team will be back in the Powell Athletic Center Thursday night to host University of Pikeville at 6 p.m. ET.

The game will air on WLCU-TV and FM with Matt Payton and Benji Kelly set to bring the action to viewers and listeners from courtside at the Powell Athletic Center. The television effort will be aired locally on Comcast Channel 10 with the radio broadcast being played live on 88.7 The Tiger as viewers and listeners can also follow the game online at www.campbellsvilletigers.com/watch.

The Lady Tigers are coming off of their only Monday night game in conference play when they earned a 74-63 win over Life University in their only game so far this year where they entered the fourth quarter trailing.

On their worst shooting game from three-point range, percentagewise, and their second-worst from the field, CU leaned on the game-high 18 points off the bench from Sammy Rogers to aid the comeback victory. Madison Faulkner, Courtney Pritchett, and Savannah Gregory were also key in the second half to help pick up the offensive slack.

SERIES FACTS
  • Pikeville has been one of the most consistent opponents throughout the history of Lady Tiger basketball as the two teams have met 81 times since 1980 with Campbellsville owning a 73-8 all-time record.
  • Over the last 26 matchups, CU has only fallen to the Bears once since 2007 as that UPike win came on Feb. 12, 2015 by a final score of 74-71 in Pikeville.
  • That game was the only loss that head coach Ginger High Colvin has suffered to Pikeville in her 13-year tenure in charge of the women's basketball program as CU is now on a current eight-game winning streak.
  • Last year, the Bears kept the game in Campbellsville to a single-digit margin of victory for the Lady Tigers, the only single-digit game during this current eight-game winning streak for CU.
  • Madison Stewart came up clutch in the 80-75 win at Campbellsville last January as she scored a game-high 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field including 3-for-4 from three.

SCOUTING Life
  • Pikeville has been in the receiving votes category in all three NAIA Coaches' Polls so far during the 2019-20 season as they currently sit at 10 voting points, which ranks seventh among the teams in the category.
  • The Bears have won seven of their last eight games that started back on Dec. 5 at the start of MSC play with wins over Life and Cumberland as their only loss during that stretch coming against Georgetown last Saturday by a score of 76-71.
  • One of their strongest players so far has been forward Brianna Burbridge as she is averaging nearly 11 points and eight rebounds per game in a bench role as she only has one start in 16 appearances as well as only averaging about 17 minutes per game.

TIGER CLAWZ
  • Campbellsville is the No. 1 assisting team in NAIA Division I with a team total of 337 so far behind starting point guard Caitlin Hall's 104 assists, good for No. 2 individually in that category.
  • Forcing turnovers has been a big part of the CU game plan through the early portion of the schedule as they force their opponents into 26.6 turnovers per game and rank first in NAIA DI in total steals at 262 this season.
  • Despite their struggles against Life, the three-point shot has been a big benefit for the Lady Tiger offense as they rank No. 2 in the NAIA in team three-point percentage at 39.2 percent behind one of the best three-point shooters in NAIA DI as Lexy Lake ranks No. 1 in total threes made (65), No. 3 in threes made per game (3.8), and No. 4 in three-point percentage (46.4%).

INDIVIDUAL MILESTONES WATCH
  • Upper classmen in the CU starting lineup have been and will be climbing the all-time leader boards in the history of Lady Tiger basketball.
  • Starting with Madison Faulkner joining the 1,000-point club, she now sits at 29th on the all-time scoring list and will likely have a teammate join her on that list as Savannah Gregory currently sits at 966 career points.
  • Gregory is also in the top-five on the career steals list as she is currently at 273, recently passing Beth Grant for fifth all-time.
  • Senior Caitlin Hall currently has 525 career assists, recently becoming the sixth player to reach 500 assists in program history. Hall has the opportunity to hit the 600-assist mark by the end of the season if she continues on her current 6.1 assist per game pace.

BEST START IN PROGRAM HISTORY
  • With the Lady Tigers off to a 17-0 start to the 2019-20 season, CU continues into the bulk of Mid-South Conference play with their best undefeated stretch to start a season in program history.
  • Prior to this season, the best unbeaten streak to start a season for Campbellsville women's basketball came in the 2014-15 season when they started 10-0.
  • After losing their 11th game of that season, the Lady Tigers proceeded to win 13-straight to move to 23-1 before eventually finishing with a 33-4 record and a trip to the NAIA National Championship game.
  • This winning streak has also been a pretty dominant one for Campbellsville as they currently sit with a +26.6 scoring margin, good for No. 3 in the NAIA as they have 14 total double digit wins and nine wins by 20 or more points.

1,000-WIN PLATEAU
  • In the 45th season of Lady Tiger basketball history, Campbellsville reached a milestone that had only been accomplished twice before in the history of NAIA women's basketball, win 1,000 games as a program.
  • The monumental win came in the Lady Tigers 91-59 win over Martin Methodist College last Saturday in Pulaski, Tenn. as part of the MSC/SSAC Crossover.
  • Campbellsville joins Wayland Baptist and Union University (Tenn.) as the only other programs to reach the feat as Union is no longer part of the NAIA after moving to the NCAA Division II level.

UP NEXT FOR CU
  • The Lady Tigers will now get into a routine of games only on Thursday or Saturdays for the remainder of the regular season.
  • They will finish off the four games in seven days stretch with a home matchup with No. 7 Shawnee State this Saturday at the Powell Athletic Center.
