CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – After competing in a few unofficial competitions during fall 2020, the Campbellsville University women's volleyball team will officially get their 2020 season underway this Thursday when they start play at the NCCAA National Championship.

The Lady Tigers will start off the tournament with the first two matches of the day in St. Paul, Minn. when they face Bethel College at 10 a.m. CT/11 a.m. ET followed by a quick turnaround to face Mid-America Christian University at 12 p.m. CT/1 p.m. ET.

So far on the season, CU has only competed in an exhibition against St. Mary of the Woods College and a pair of closed scrimmages. In the exhibition, the Lady Tigers earned a four-set win over SMWC by set scores of 25-15, 18-25, 25-16, and 25-13.

Junior
Sonia Flendrich led the team in kills, aces, and blocks while also finishing second on the team in digs. Flendrich earned a double-double with her 14 kills and 13 digs while adding four aces and four blocks in the exhibition win.

The combination of Flendrich and redshirt sophomore
Sutton Mason finished the match with 26 of the team's 49 total kills in the match as the tandem of outside hitters attempted 72 total attacks, over half of the team's attack attempts.

Campbellsville's opponents on Thursday have both competed in double-digit matches so far this season with Bethel playing their full 2020 season in the fall, currently at a 15-4 overall record and Mid-America Christian playing only non-conference matches in the fall to a 9-4 record.

Bethel has a balanced attack from the outside and the middle as they tout five different players with over 100 kills on the season led by 180 from Isabelle North. Maddy Payne is right behind North with 170, with Payton Hart (149), Cheyanne Seymour (127), and Madyson Beaver (111) rounding out the list of triple-digit kills.

Mid-America Christian has a dominant attacker in Hanna Foecker as she is the only member of the Evangels over 100 kills and she is way over that number with 215 on the season. Based off of the statistics, MACU appears to use a two setter rotation with both Ryann Hale and Morgan Vanmeir currently over 200 total assists on the season with 251 and 200 respectively.

The Lady Tigers will wrap up pool play on Friday with the first match of the day again when they face Grace College at 10 a.m. CT/11 a.m. ET for a chance to make the bracket phase.
