Dallas Baptist capitalizes on early momentum, Lady Tigers drop NCCAA Pool Play match, 5-0

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — The start to the 2020-21 season looked a little different this year as the Lady Tiger soccer team finished with a 2-1 record at the NCCAA Championship hosted at Austin-Tindall Sports Complex.

The Lady Tigers lost their finale of the championship, 5-0, to NCAA DII and No. 1 seed Dallas Baptist. Campbellsville won its other pool play games, 2-1, over Carolina University and Bob Jones University.

On Thursday, the Lady Tigers had their backs against the wind on Field 1 at Austin-Tindall Sports Complex and it played a major factor in the first half. Dallas Baptist used the wind to its advantage and scored in the 13th minute – as Jenna Patterson put the Patriots up 1-0.

The score was 2-0 at halftime as Marit Auee netted a goal in the 27th minute. The Lady Tigers had a few chances in the first half but couldn't capitalize on counter attacks from Molly Hall, Milena Derougeur and Abigail Proctor. The Patriots out-shot CU 10-2 in the opening 45 minutes and 19-3 overall.

DBU had goals from Ashley Merrill, Delaney Schmidt and Alondra Olmos.

Campbellsville's Katelyn Young finished the day with six saves tallying all 90 minutes in goal.

The Lady Tigers finish the fall semester schedule with a 2-1 record before entering into the spring semester of regular season Mid-South Conference games.

CU is scheduled to open the spring against rival Lindsey Wilson College on Sunday, Feb. 14.
