Tigers hit the road for tough test against No. 15 University of the Cumberlands

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Originally scheduled to be the Mid-South Conference opener, the Campbellsville University men's basketball team will close their pre-Christmas schedule when they travel to Williamsburg, Ky. to face the University of the Cumberlands on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. ET.

The Tigers are coming off of back-to-back losses in conference play against Pikeville and Martin Methodist last week after earning a win in the MSC opener back on Dec. 3.

Last Saturday against the Redhawks, the Tigers were able to eliminate a 15-point deficit to cut the MMC lead to make it a five-point game with about two minutes remaining before Martin Methodist closed out the 92-82 win.

BROADCAST INFORMATION
  • Matt Payton, the voice of Tiger basketball, will be on the call for the broadcast as he will bring the action from Pikeville to the airwaves of 88.7 The Tiger as the radio broadcast will also air online at www.campbellsvilletigers.com/watch.
  • University of the Cumberlands policy for spectators is that no outside spectators will be allowed in the gym, only individuals with a valid UC ID up to a max capacity of 200 will be allowed inside of the O. Wayne Rollins Center.
  • Cumberlands will provide a video stream on their website at www.cumberlandspatriots.com/watch for those interesting in watching the action away from the court.

YOUTH EXPERIENCE
  • Early on this season, the Tigers have been looking to some of their younger players to add a bit of a spark to the lineup with sophomores Max Reyes and Devaunte Robinson coming off the bench and freshman Brayden Sebastian working in the starting lineup.
  • Sebastian has been a little hot and cold to start his collegiate career, currently averaging seven points and 3.7 rebounds per game but has shown some glimpses of providing quality outside shooting at 7-for-17 (41.7%) so far with two double-digit scoring games of 13 and 16 this year.
  • Both Reyes and Robinson have missed some games for the Tigers for various reasons but have provided different things off the bench with Robinson being on of the better on-ball defenders on the roster along with his ability to get to the rim and Reyes providing quickness and scoring ability to the back-up point guard position.
  • CU is also activating another freshman for his first game this week as Lincoln Bush will suit up for the Tigers against the Patriots as the 6-7 forward out of Winchester, Ky. was planned to take a redshirt year, and still can, but will give head coach Brent Vernon some depth in the front court.
SCOUTING CUMBERLANDS
  • The Patriots are 7-1 overall on the year while only playing a pair of Mid-South Conference contests, splitting those games to a 1-1 record in MSC play.
  • UC was able to upset the No. 1 Georgetown Tigers at home before dropping a tight five-point game to Martin Methodist on the road back on Dec. 3 and Dec. 5 respectively.
  • Senior Guard Tevin Olison is one of the better offensive players in all of the Mid-South Conference as he's currently averaging 20.8 points per game while also touting a Mid-South Conference Player of the Week honor from earlier this season.
LOOKING AHEAD
  • As mentioned earlier, the Tigers will be off until after Christmas as they get back into MSC action on New Year's Eve night when they host Cumberland University on Dec. 31 for an 8 p.m. ET tip.
