Tedesco caps weekend with one-hitter; Tigers split series with No. 18 Bryan and William Carey

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Another weekend, another split for Campbellsville University baseball as the Tigers went down south for another weekend series but this time CU earned two wins over the home-standing Crusaders of William Carey but lost to No. 18 Bryan College.

Campbellsville's weekend started on Friday afternoon falling 2-1 to Bryan before winning the night cap, 3-1, over William Carey. On Saturday, the 25th-ranked Tigers fell once again to the Lions, 7-1, but put up the same score against William Carey in the weekend finale.

Campbellsville's seven runs was the most the Tigers have put up so far in the young season as the Tigers have started 4-4 after two weekends into 2020.

The highlight of the weekend was once again the pitching staff as Gabe O'Brien (2-0) picked up another eight-strikeout performance en route to his second win of the year on Friday night against William Carey.

On Saturday against the Crusaders, Brady Tedesco took a no-hitter into the sixth inning but finished tossing six complete frames with one hit and striking out six.

Offensively, Jalen Horton earned two hits in each game on Saturday and drove in one game from the leadoff spot in the order. Cale Thompson finished the weekend with four hits total – one in each game – driving in a run and scoring another.

The Tigers are now playing the waiting game to see if their home opener will remain scheduled for Tuesday afternoon against Midway University. Weather predictions aren't looking promising, but fans are encouraged to stay tuned to CampbellsvilleTigers.com for complete details. Tuesday's game is currently scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. ET.
