Humphrey's big day and Blades' gem in the circle lead Lady Tigers to run rule win

WALESKA, Ga. — Tori Humphrey tallied a pair of doubles, two RBI and two runs scored to lead No. 13 Campbellsville over Freed-Hardeman University at the Reinhardt Invitational, 8-0.

The Lady Tigers (3-0) picked up the win in game one of The Invitational and will play again tonight at approximately 9 p.m. ET against the host Reinhardt Eagles. Fans can tune into the CU Sports Network for coverage.

Payton Blades (2-0) earned her second win in as many starts after tossing four innings of two-hit ball. She also struck out two batters.

Humphrey put the Lady Tigers up 1-0 after an RBI double score Blades from first base. Humphrey later scored on a wild pitch – which was the first of two runs the Lady Tigers scored off free passes.

In the second inning, Sam McKee scored another run on a wild pitch and Humphrey walked with the bases loaded to put the Lady Tigers up, 4-0.

In the third, CU scored another pair of runs after Dana Adkins doubled down the right field line scoring Lexi Miller and Riley Hurst

In the fourth, Humphrey hit a laser to left-center for another double and Sky Keown replaced her as a pinch runner. Keown created the seventh run for CU after advancing to third on a ground ball up the middle and forced the second Freed-Hardeman error to score.

In the fifth inning, Blades scored the game-winner after an RBI ground out by Ryley Whitney

Karson Williams saw action in the circle during the final inning and worked out of a jam. She allowed a pair of singles and a walk to load the bases but a strikeout and groundball secured the shutout.

Freed-Hardeman falls to 0-4 overall with the loss, while Emily Bradford dropped to 0-2 in the circle for the Lions.
