Adriana Lopez becomes second Lady Tiger to earn MSC Freshman of the Year honors

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Freshman Adriana Lopez won her first Mid-South Conference Championship on Saturday and was named the Freshman of the Year at the awards banquet.

Lopez, a freshman from Upper Lake, Calif., went 10-7 in the regular season and was one of two freshmen to claim Mid-South Conference tournament titles along with teammate Gabrielle Garcia

"Adriana has developed the way I thought she would," said coach Lee Miracle. "She had to adjust to college wrestling before she could evolve. That adjustment has been made."

Lopez was one of the best to come out of the Golden State last season. She prepped at Upper Lake High School where she was an NCS Sectional Championship, finished third in the State and won the Reno Worlds all in her junior season.

During her first two seasons at Upper Lake, she finished third at sectionals, was a two-time state qualifier, and finished seventh at the Oklahoma Folkstyle National Championships.

The future is bright for Lopez after she becomes the second Lady Tiger to be named MSC Freshman of the Year along with teammate McKayla Campbell (2017-18).
