Lady Tigers to close out regular season as they travel to the Williamsburg on Saturday

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Saturday afternoon, the Lady Tigers will travel to Williamsburg for their final regular season meeting at 2 p.m. ET.

Campbellsville, currently holding the top spot in the MSC standings will earn the MSC Regular Season title with a win, sealing their spot as the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament next week. The Patriots, however, will not look to make it easy for the Lady Tigers as they took the Lady Tigers down to the wire in their previous contest. After combining for 98 points last week, Madison Faulkner and Savannah Gregory will look to continue their hot scoring to lead CU to another MSC win.

Matt Payton will be live from the O. Wayne Rollins Center  for the play-by-play call of the action as fans can listen live locally in Campbellsville on WLCU-FM 88.7 The Tiger as well as fans anywhere being able to listen online at www.campbellsvilletigers.com/watch.

SERIES FACTS
  • Since the inception of the Lady Tiger basketball program, the Patriots are the team CU has met the most, holding a record of 74-36 all-time.
  • Head Coach Ginger High Colvin currently holds a six-game win streak against Patriots and has recorded a 21-11 tally with them.
  • The long win streak for either team in the series came during the transition from the Donna Wise era to the Ginger High Colvin era as the University of teh Cumberlands won eight -straight meetings from February 2005 to February 2008.
  • Since, the Lady Tigers have ove at least one game against the Patriots in all, but one season, including a 7-3 record in Williamsburg in that span.

LAST MEETING - JAN. 16
  • As the programs met previously this season in the Powell Athletic Center, it was the Lady Tigers who prevailed after outscoring the Patriots by 12 in the second half.
  • After entering the halftime break trailing by one, CU used a 21-12 point advantage in the third quarter to take down UC.
  • The Lady Tiges had a quartet of players in double digit scoring, led by Madison Faulkner's 25 point game.
  • Savannah Gregory showed her usual prowess as well in the contest with 10 points, seven steals, and seven rebounds.
  • On the other side of the ball, Vilma Covane led the Patriots with a 24 point, 14 rebound double-double. Carla Covane followed with a 12-10 double-double of her own.

SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
  • The Cumberlands enters Saturday's contest with a 19-10 overall record, going 6-9 in MSC play.
  • Their numbers led the Patriots to sit in the receiving votes category of the most recent NAIA Coaches' Poll.
  • UC is led in scoring by a trio of players in double figures, as Vilma Covane (12.8), Silvia Veloso (12.7), and Carla Covane (10.7) can all be offensive threats.
  • The Covane sisters also lead the Patriots in the rebounding metrics pulling down a combined 15.5 rebounds per contest.
  • These rebounding numbers help the Patriots to an NAIA sixth ranking in rebounding margin (+9.0).
  • Silvia Veloso has also shown to be a defensive threat as her 3.96 steals per game rank her fifth in the NAIA and help the Patriots to a 10th place rank in team steals per contest, averaging 12.31.
  • The Patriot defense has also shown success in limiting the deep range threat as they only allow a 3-pt fg% of 27.1% to rank them 11th among NAIA competitors.

TIGER CLAWZ
  • CU head coach Ginger High Colvin achieved the 20-win total for the 12th-straight time in her 13 seasons leading the charge for the Lady Tigers. The only season she did not lead Campbellsville to a 20-win season was in her first season as head coach when the Lady Tigers won 19 games.
  • Campbellsville is the No. 2 assisting team in NAIA Division I with a team total of 558 behind Caitlin Hall's 157 assists, good for No. 5 individually in that category.
  • Forcing turnovers has been a big part of the CU game plan this season as they force their opponents into 27.2 turnovers per game and rank first in NAIA DI in total steals at 470, steals per game at 16.20, and turnover margin at +11.5 this season.
  • The three-point shot has been a big benefit for the Lady Tiger offense as they rank No. 1 in the NAIA in team three-point percentage at 38.5 percent behind one of the best three-point shooters in NAIA DI as Lexy Lake ranks No. 4 in total threes made (87) as well as No. 10 in threes made per game (3.0), and No. 2 in three-point percentage (43.7%).

INDIVIDUAL MILESTONES WATCH
  • Upper classmen in the CU starting lineup have been and will be climbing the all-time leader boards in the history of Lady Tiger basketball.
  • Starting with Madison Faulkner joining the 1,000-point club, she now sits at 17th on the all-time scoring list with 1,448 career points.
  • Savannah Gregory has joined Faulkner in the 1,000-point club and now has 1,169 career points. She is also in the top-five on the career steals list as she is currently at 315, recently passing Mackenzie Lee and Rosanne Conlan for now at third all-time.
  • Gregory and Lee hold a little more of a connection than just being in the top-five on the career steals list as Gregory become the first Lady Tiger since Lee to reach the 1,000-point milestone during their junior campaigns. Lee eventually finished with 1,462 career-points, which is 16th all-time.
  • Senior Caitlin Hall currently has 578 career assists, just passing LeAnn Grider for third all-time on the career assists list.

1,000-WIN PLATEAU
  • In the 45th season of Lady Tiger basketball, Campbellsville reached a milestone that had only been accomplished twice in the history of NAIA women's basketball by winning 1,000 games.
  • The monumental win came in the Lady Tigers 91-59 win over Martin Methodist in Pulaski, Tenn. on Nov. 9 as part of the MSC/SSAC Crossover.
  • Campbellsville joins Wayland Baptist and Union University (Tenn.) as the only other programs to reach the feat as Union is no longer part of the NAIA after moving to the NCAA Division II level.

UP NEXT FOR CU
  • This concludes the regular season for CU as the Lady Tigers will look for a win to guarantee the MSC Regular Season Championship. MSC play will begin on March 6 for CU.
