Lady Tigers continue on the road for Saturday meeting with Pikeville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Following their first overtime game of the season, the Campbellsville University women's basketball team will continue on for a road game against University of Pikeville this Saturday afternoon in Pikeville, Ky. in the UPike Gym.

Matt Payton will be live from the UPike Gym for the play-by-play call of the action as fans can listen live locally in Campbellsville on WLCU-FM 88.7 The Tiger as well as fans anywhere being able to listen online at www.campbellsvilletigers.com/watch.

It will be the second trip of the season to Pikeville and their third game in the UPike gym after playing Simmons College of Kentucky and Marian University in Pikeville on Nov. 15-16.

The Lady Tigers dropped a tough 103-101 double overtime game to Shawnee State on Thursday night as a Lexy Lake three-point towards the end of regulation sent the game into overtime and a floater from SSU's Bailey Cummins won the game in the second overtime as she hit that shot with four seconds left in double OT.

SERIES FACTS
  • Pikeville has been one of the most consistent opponents throughout the history of Lady Tiger basketball as the two teams have met 82 times since 1980 with Campbellsville owning a 74-8 all-time record.
  • Over the last 27 matchups, CU has only fallen to the Bears once since 2007 as that UPike win came on Feb. 12, 2015 by a final score of 74-71 in Pikeville.
  • That game was the only loss that head coach Ginger High Colvin has suffered to Pikeville in her 13-year tenure in charge of the women's basketball program as CU is now on a current eight-game winning streak.
  • Last year, the Bears kept the game in Campbellsville to a single-digit margin of victory for the Lady Tigers, the only single-digit game during this current nine-game winning streak for CU.
  • Madison Stewart came up clutch in the 80-75 win at Campbellsville in January 2019 as she scored a game-high 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field including 3-for-4 from three.

LAST MEETING - JAN. 9
  • The Lady Tigers left no doubt from the opening tip on their way to a 78-56 win over Pikeville at the Powell Athletic Center on Jan. 9.
  • Pikeville finished the half with a strong second quarter to pull back to within 14 at the break trailing 37-23 after 20 minutes. The Bears outscored Campbellsville 19-12 in the quarter and were able to use 12 first half points from Mary Englert to get to the 14-point margin at halftime.
  • The Lady Tigers went back on the attack in the second half behind a more aggressive Caitlin Hall as the senior tied a career-high with 18 points, 13 of which came during the second half. Hall shot 7-for-11 overall and 3-for-6 from long range including a third quarter ending three-pointer to put CU up 62-35 heading into the fourth quarter.

SCOUTING PIKEVILLE
  • Pikeville are in the receiving votes category of the NAIA Coaches' Poll as they currently sit at seven voting points, which ranks seventh among the teams in the category.
  • The Bears are currently on a four-game losing streak after dropping games against Cumberlands, Thomas More, Georgetown, and Lindsey Wilson College.
  • Their most recent win came in an upset of Shawnee State on Jan. 16 as UPike earned a 67-62 win against No. 7 SSU.
  • The trio of Sierra Feltner, Kayla Mullins, and Brianna Burbridge all average 10.4 or more points per game with Burbridge leading the team in rebounding and steals per game, Mullins owning the team's top three-point percentage, and Felter leading the way in scoring and assists per game.

TIGER CLAWZ
  • CU head coach Ginger High Colvin achieved the 20-win total for the 12th-straight time in her 13 seasons leading the charge for the Lady Tigers. The only season she did not lead Campbellsville to a 20-win season was in her first season as head coach when the Lady Tigers won 19 games.
  • Campbellsville is the No. 1 assisting team in NAIA Division I with a team total of 485 behind Caitlin Hall's 136 assists, good for No. 5 individually in that category.
  • Forcing turnovers has been a big part of the CU game plan this season as they force their opponents into 27.0 turnovers per game and rank first in NAIA DI in total steals at 400, steals per game at 16.0, and turnover margin at +11.2 this season.
  • The three-point shot has been a big benefit for the Lady Tiger offense as they rank No. 2 in the NAIA in team three-point percentage at 38.7 percent behind one of the best three-point shooters in NAIA DI as Lexy Lake ranks No. 3 in total threes made (78) as well as No. 6 in threes made per game (3.1), and No. 2 in three-point percentage (44.8%).

INDIVIDUAL MILESTONES WATCH
  • Upper classmen in the CU starting lineup have been and will be climbing the all-time leader boards in the history of Lady Tiger basketball.
  • Starting with Madison Faulkner joining the 1,000-point club, she now sits at 24th on the all-time scoring list with 1,347 career points.
  • Savannah Gregory has joined Faulkner in the 1,000-point club and now has 1,090 career points. She is also in the top-five on the career steals list as she is currently at 299, recently passing Mackenzie Lee and Rosanne Conlan for now at third all-time.
  • Gregory and Lee hold a little more of a connection than just being in the top-five on the career steals list as Gregory become the first Lady Tiger since Lee to reach the 1,000-point milestone during their junior campaigns. Lee eventually finished with 1,462 career-points, which is 16th all-time.
  • Senior Caitlin Hall currently has 557 career assists, just passing Katie Allen for fifth all-time on the career assists list.

1,000-WIN PLATEAU
  • In the 45th season of Lady Tiger basketball, Campbellsville reached a milestone that had only been accomplished twice in the history of NAIA women's basketball by winning 1,000 games.
  • The monumental win came in the Lady Tigers 91-59 win over Martin Methodist in Pulaski, Tenn. on Nov. 9 as part of the MSC/SSAC Crossover.
  • Campbellsville joins Wayland Baptist and Union University (Tenn.) as the only other programs to reach the feat as Union is no longer part of the NAIA after moving to the NCAA Division II level.

UP NEXT FOR CU
