CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – As the Tigers hosted Cumberland University in another Mid-South Conference match on Thursday evening, they escaped Gosser with a 3-1 win over the Phoenix.
While Campbellsville (22-2, 8-0 MSC) struggled throughout the match after dropping the first set, 25-20, they were able to take the final three sets 25-23, 25-23, and 26-24.
The Tigers were led by three attackers with double digit kill numbers with
Yannik Ahr's 15 leading the match.
Joudiel Poveymirow and
Max Stotridge followed with 13 and 10 kills a piece.
Stotridge was the most efficient of the three leading attackers for the Tigers, closing with a hitting percentage of .500 on the evening.
The Phoenix battled with the Tigers and led for much of the match, seeking to take the match to a fifth set. However, after trailing 24-22, Campbellsville closed with four straight points to win the match.
Campbellsville will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they will host Webber International University at 4 p.m. ET.
