Campbellsville University announces academic calendar for 2020; Classes begin Sept. 3

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Campbellsville University's administration has announced the academic calendar for the fall 2020 semester.

Dr. Donna Hedgepath, provost and vice president for academic affairs, announced that the fall 2020 semester will begin on Sept. 3 and end on Dec. 11, 2020. Students will begin instruction on Sept. 3 using the online learning management system and will begin in-person classes on Tuesday, Sept. 8, the day after Labor Day.

The semester also has two bi-terms, scheduled for Sept. 3 – Oct. 17, and Oct. 19 – Dec. 11.

Hedgepath said other notable changes in the academic calendar include elimination of the October fall break.

The Thanksgiving holiday will begin Wednesday, Nov. 25 with students not returning to in-person classes for the remainder of the semester and returning at the beginning of the spring 2021 semester.

"The changes to the academic calendar were driven by continued concern for health concerns of the Campbellsville University student body, faculty, staff and coaches," Hedgepath said.

"This calendar eliminates the normal times of heightened travel during the semester and provides alternatives to ensure students still receive the quality, personal instruction they have grown to expect from Campbellsville University."
The specific dates are as follows:

Dates Schedule
Sept. 3 Fall semester 2020 begins
Sept. 8 In-person instruction starts
Oct. 17 First bi-term ends
Oct. 19 Second bi-term courses start
Nov. 25 Thanksgiving holiday- In-person instruction stops.
Nov. 30 Instruction resumes via remote technology
Dec. 7-Dec. 11 Final exams online

Further information regarding the fall semester, including dates for move-in and safety measures, will be released in the near future, Hedgepath said.
