Swimming head coach Casey Bradstreet named MSC Coaching for Significance recipient

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Campbellsville University's men's and women's swimming coach Casey Bradstreet has been named a 2019-20 Mid-South Conference Coaching for Significance award recipient, conference officials announced on Wednesday.

The honor is the first for Bradstreet and the first for a Campbellsville coach since the inception of the award in 2015-16.

"I am blessed and honored simply by the nomination for this award," Bradstreet said. "I am completely flattered by my peers selecting me to receive this honor. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work in such a growing and lively environment! I am blessed by my student-athletes and the opportunity I have been given by my administration to run my program like a family, to strive to know each other and love each other in good moments and tough moments."

"I am grateful for the guidance I have received from my superiors, the friendships I have with fellow coaches, and the grace to learn as I lead my team," Bradstreet added. "I look forward to our many adventures ahead."

Annually, Bradstreet and the Campbellsville swimming program raise funds and awareness for pediatric cancer by hosting "Dance Maroon," a dance marathon, as well as a 5k race. She also organized a Senior Day Meet for the senior swimmers from Bethel University in Campbellsville to celebrate their achievements since they do not host home events.

"We are blessed at Campbellsville University with a great team of coaches and we take great pride in developing champions of character," Campbellsville athletics director Jim Hardy said. "Coach Casey Bradstreet has always had a passion for teaching and developing servant leaders who strive to make a difference in their team, school, and community. I can think of no one more deserving of this honor because she consistently teaches character in her program. Congratulations Coach Bradstreet for this prestigious award! Glad you are in a position to impact our student-athletes."

Bradstreet treats her team as her own family with team meals and Christmas buddy exchange to build team unity and camaraderie. She works with other teams such as Bethel, Life University -- pairing with Life to do a community outreach program around their meet -- and Lindsey Wilson -- raising funds and awareness for Sarcoma and the Ted Mullen Fund.

"Casey is an amazing example for her student-athletes to emulate in terms of character," Mid-South Commissioner Eric Ward said. "I am consistently impressed, not only by the way she holds her student-athletes accountable in the pool and in the classroom but most importantly by her accountability with her team and her peers. She is a tremendous mentor for her team and her fellow coaches and provides great leadership for our conference character committee."
