Tiger volleyball can’t dig out of another 2-0 hole, fall to Indiana Tech 3-1

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – About 17 hours after an exciting two-set comeback win, the Campbellsville University men's volleyball team couldn't repeat that effort Saturday afternoon in a 3-1 loss to Indiana Tech.

Each of the first three sets went extra points as the scores went 26-24, 27-25, 24-26, and 25-23 with every set being determined by the minimum of two points. In every set but the first, the Tigers attacked for a better hitting percentage than Indiana Tech but CU couldn't come up with the crucial points late in sets one, two, and four to pull any of those sets out.

Daynte Stewart for the Warriors led all attackers with 14 kills in the match with the Tigers touting three players in double figures. Jason Camacho was the top attack for CU for the second-straight match as he had 12 but in a less efficient effort than the night prio as he hit for just a .022 percentage.

Rafael Cruz and Jakob Zum Kolk both had 10 kills with Isaac Paches having a strong seven kills in just 11 attacks for a .545 hitting percentage. No other Tiger had more than three kills in the match as Indiana Tech had a strong defensive match.

The Warriors finished with 58 digs and 14 blocks as both of those totals outdid CU on the defensive effort despite IIT trailing in the kills category by 10 at a 49-39 advantage for Campbellsville.

Campbellsville will now return home for a pair of home matches next weekend when they host Lourdes University and Tusculum University at Gosser Gymnasium next Friday and Saturday respectively.
