HENDERSON, Tenn. – The #13 Campbellsville University women's soccer team's defense held the Freed-Hardeman University Lions to only two shots in their shutout victory, 6-0.
Johanna Staahl would nearly score within the first two minutes, but the Lions' keeper saved. The Lady Tigers kept up the pressure though and in just the fourth minute freshman
Lina Berrah struck the back of the net. Teammates
Sangmin Cha and
Jenna Croteau would follow suit in the 16
th and 18
th minutes. The Campbellsville women's soccer team would log 10 shots in first 20 minutes, seven of those on goal. Before the first half concluded,
Lauren Woodcock notched her second goal of the season.
After the opening 45 minutes, the Lady Tigers tallied 14 shots, 10 shots-on-goal, and four corners holding Freed-Hardeman to exactly zero in each of those categories.
The second half would see the Campbellsville offense slow, but still have significant effect.
Hope Sanders would kick a goal in the 55
th minute while
Angeline Kieh entered double-digit territory for goals on the season with her 80
th minute strike.
At the final horn, the Lady Tigers finished with 29 shots compared to the Lions' two.
Doeschka Birnage saved both of those Freed-Hardeman shots-on-goal for Campbellsville.
The Lady Tigers will be at home in Finley Stadium for their next match against the #18 Cumberland University Phoenix. That game is slated for Wednesday October 20
th at 6 p.m. ET.
