CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The #13 Lady Tigers were shutout by the #3 University of Tennessee Southern Firehawks Saturday night in a final score of 2-0.
Despite the result, the Lady Tigers fought valiantly to hold Tennessee Southern at two goals. The Firehawks took the lead within the first four minutes of the first half. The second Firehawk goal was scored in the 25
th minute when Tennessee Southern's Ekada had her first shot blocked but the rebound returned to her for another chance which was successful.
Campbellsville held their ground for the remainder of the half as they put the pressure on their opponents. This defensive coercion lead Tennessee Southern to leave the first half with no additional goals.
The second half was a defensive showdown as Campbellsville worked tirelessly to flip the score.
Lina Berrah had a solid chance at the goal in the 54
th minute but the shot was saved by the Firehawks' keeper. Campbellsville only attempted three shots for the opposing goal the entire match whereas Tennessee Southern attempted 20. Campbellsville keeper
Doeschka Birnage defended the Tiger's goal with a total of seven saves.
The Lady Tigers return to the field Thursday, October 28
th at 6 p.m. ET to face off against Lindsey Wilson College. Campbellsville will be traveling Highway 55 to the home of the Blue Raiders in hopes of closing the regular season with a 13-2 record.
