CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The #14 Lady Tigers net their eighth win in a row defeating the Thomas More Saints on Homecoming weekend 5-2.
The Lady Tigers were effusive in their coordination in the first half. Sophomore
Chloe Holt netted the first goal of her career in the 14
th minute. Holt kicked a moonshot after she threw the ball in to
Rebecca Lilley who one-touch passed it immediately back to Holt. Campbellsville was close to more goals all through the first half. A
Lina Berrah breakaway was saved in the 17
th minute,
Sangmin Cha had a header miss off a brilliant pass by Berrah in the box, and a free kick from
Milena Derougeur was saved too. The Lady Tigers would find goal again in the 29
th minute when
Angeline Kieh launched a corner kick that found Cha who glanced the ball off her hip and in. A cross from Berrah to
Jessie Bryson also found paydirt in the 40
th minute, her fifth of the season.
At the half, Campbellsville had 12 more shots than Thomas More with seven of those being on-goal compared to the Saints' one. The corner totals were reflective of the Lady Tigers' possession success as well: they had six while Thomas More had only one. The Saints were playing quite physically racking up six fouls in the first half alone.
The Berrah-Bryson connection paid off again just eight minutes into the second half. Following that score, the Saints responded with a goal of their own in minute 57. In the remainder of the half,
Braxton Gentry hit the back of the net in the 70
th minute and Thomas More would score again in the 72
nd minute off a long cross into the box. Goalkeeper
Doeschka Birnage ended the match with four saves.
The next time the Lady Tigers take the pitch will be Tuesday October 12
th at 6 p.m. ET in McKenzie, Tennessee to face off against the Bethel University Lady Wildcats.
