MURRAY, Ky. – The Tigers travel to Murray State University to compete in an evening match-up against the Racers. Campbellsville ended the match in a 98-61 score.
The starters for the Tigers included
Peyton Broughton,
Cameron Carmical,
Darius Harding,
Jarius Key, and
Jace Wallace. Although the Racers won the tip, it was the Tigers who were first to score with a layup from Carmical. Murray made a six-point run but were stopped when Carmical put up a three-pointer. The Racers made another six-point run but it was put to a halt as
Keaston Brown sunk a three. The Tigers continued to trail as Racers strung together consecutive runs. Campbellsville's scoring drought ended as
Malachi De Sousa made a bucket. The Racers were unable to produce any threes out of their seven attempts. At the end of the half, Murray State was up by 20. The Tigers trailed 49-29.
The second half saw the Tigers reeling. To start, Murray State forced the Tigers into several turnovers (17) causing them to remain unbalanced. Wallace was able to create back-to-back buckets for a five-point run. Campbellsville's only lead of the game was by two when the scoreboard showed 4-2. The Tigers trailed the Racers in field goal percentage with a 34.4 percent to Murray State's 58.2 percent. Campbellsville remained close to Murray State in rebounds (30) and bench points (28).
Offensively, Wallace led the team with 15 points, while Harding followed with 11 points, and Brown with ten points. Harding also collected six rebounds, which was the team high.
Ross Ryan came after with five rebounds.
Campbellsville will continue their season as they face Freed-Hardeman University at Powell Athletic Center. The match will be the second of a Tiger basketball double-header on Thursday, December 2
nd at 8 p.m. ET.
