Fighting Tiger Football loses Battle of Highway 55

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Tigers made their way down Highway 55 to battle the #1 Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders Saturday afternoon losing 77-14. 

To start the game, Campbellsville had a three-and-out. Lindsey Wilson opened their offense with a 35-yard pass leading the Blue Raiders to an eventual rushing touchdown. Lindsey was able to produce another touchdown with 8:44 left in the first. The Tigers bounced back by making two big passing plays resulting in 75 yards. Michael Walker was able to find the Blue Raiders' endzone with a 32-yard pass from Joshua Meglis. After the possession switched, Lindsey Wilson went on to score another touchdown, but the extra point was blocked by Kale Hagan. Campbellsville and Lindsey Wilson College went back and forth between Campbellsville's three-and-outs and Lindsey's touchdowns ending the quarter with a score of 28-7.
 
The second quarter, Meglis started off with three complete passes, but the drive ended with a fumble by D'Anta Sipp. After this error, Campbellsville struggled to find their footing. Lindsey Wilson was able to put three more touchdowns on the board before the Tigers were able to recover a fumble to take possession. The half ended with a score of 57-7. 
 
At the half, Lindsey Wilson College had almost double the number of total yards to that of Campbellsville. The Blue Raiders stood at a total of 415 yards whereas the Tigers had 241. Lindsey Wilson also beat Campbellsville in third down efficiency percentage. The Blue Raiders held a 100 percent efficiency while the Tigers stood at just 20 percent. The average play difference was significant as well at the end of the half. Campbellsville had 5.1 average yards per play and Lindsey Wilson has 13.4 yards per play. 
 
Offensively, Meglis went 11-22 in passing attempts in the opening two quarters. Tate Pringle led the team in receiving as he racked up 61 yards. Patrick Oden trailed Pringle with 49 yards. Sipp totaled 61 rushing yards and Meglis with 20. Defensively, Cain Newland led with six tackles and Jacoby Miguel trailed him with five tackles. 
 
In the third quarter Lindsey was able to produce two more touchdowns. Freshman Rennie Prim Jr. made his debut as quarterback. Despite Campbellsville's efforts, Lindsey was able to put another touchdown on the score board. 
 
Entering the fourth, the Tigers inched their way up the field toward the endzone. Prim Jr. threw a pass to Pringle for a Tiger Touchdown, Prim's first of his Tiger career. Devin Neally's kick was good for the extra point. 
 
The final score was 77-14 in favor of Lindsey Wilson. Lindsey held a total of 37 first downs compared to Campbellsville's 15. The Blue Raiders recorded a total of 635 yards versus the Tigers 312 yards.
 
The University's football team will face their next competition in McKenzie, Tenn. as they play Bethel University. The match with begin next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET and will conclude the Tiger regular season.
