HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Campbellsville University women's volleyball team traveled to Freed-Hardeman University and closed out their regular season competition with a win over the Freed-Hardeman University Lady Lions: 3-1.
To begin set one, Campbellsville and Freed-Hardeman went back and forth on point earnings. The Lady Tigers were able to keep up with the Lady Lions during rallies by getting the ball out of the net. Campbellsville seemed to let Freed-Hardeman travel back on the scoreboard, but
Alina Zellin shut out the Lady Lions in a set-winning kill. The match ended in a score of 25-23.
The Lady Tigers fell short in the second set. FHU began scoring early against CU. Once both teams had eight points on the board, Freed-Hardeman kicked it in gear to six point run forcing Campbellsville to call a timeout. Senior setter
Paige Merrick went head-to-head with the Lady Lions setter dumping the ball over the net as FHU became more familiar with Campbellsville's offensive strategies. Despite efforts to even the score, Freed-Hardeman took the second set in a score of 25-14.
Set three began the same as the last as Freed-Hardeman took an early lead with three-straight kills. Campbellsville managed to even the score and manage to get ahead with Salma Gonzales-Sosa at the serving line. Gonzales-Sosa found herself racking up aces in today's match with a total of two along with game leader
Taylor Thacker (5) and
Katie Morin (3). The Lady Tigers capitalized off The Lady Lions error to take the set in a score of 27-25.
Campbellsville University traveled home with a victory as they won set four over Freed-Hardeman. The Lady Tigers used the Lady Lion's errors to their advantage to finalize the match. Campbellsville's kill leaders included

Hannah McGill (11), and Zellin (9).
Paige Merrick ended the day with an impressive total of 46 assists.
Campbellsville ends regular season play with a 22-6 record. The Lady Tigers will be the fourth seed in the Mid-South Conference Tournament in Bowling Green, Ky. The tournament begins Thursday November 11th will run through Saturday November 13th. The Lady Tigers' first game will be Thursday at 4 p.m. ET in the second round of the MSC Tournament and they will face the winner of the first round matchup between Cumberland University and the University of Pikeville.
