LOUISVILLE, KY – The Tigers were able to come away with early season bests at the Louisville Cardinal Classic.
Alex Steen was the highlight of the day with his first collegiate victory in the 800m run. Steen won the event with a time of 2:06.72.
Sam Kiser was able to place himself in scoring position in both his events. In the mile, Kiser placed fourth overall with a time of 4:23.77 while in the 3,000m run he placed runner-up in the event with a time of 8:55.38.
Campbellsville was able to place three runners following Kiser in the 3,000m run.
Shawn Little placed third overall with a time of 8:58.71.
Dakota Brady placed fourth in the event with her time of 9:03.35 and
Lukas Smithson rounded out the group with his fifth place time of 9:17.67.
Amarion Morrison placed fourth in his early event in the meet in the 60m hurdles. Morrison was able to cross the line in 9.41.
Elijah Moore qualified for the finals in the 60m dash. Moore was able to run similar splits with his 6.99 in the prelims while he ran a 7.01 in the finals placing seventh in the event. Moore also ran the 200m dash placing seventh with a time of 22.46 while
Darionta Bell was able to finish ahead of Moore in sixth at 22.42.
Maikyah Stowe ran an early season best in the 400m dash earning the bronze medal position with his time of 51.15. The Tigers also were able to place their 4x400m relay in the top five in the meet. Stowe, Bell, Moore and
Isaiah Harris ran a time of 3:35.64.
In the jumps Camron Hamby,
Kilan Macklin, and
Barrye Trotter finished all in a row in the high jump. Hamby placed fifth with a mark of 1.95m, Macklin placed sixth with his height of 1.90m, while Trotter rounded out the trio in seventh with a jump of 1.85m.
Macklin and
Corey Smith II also put themselves in scoring position in the long jump. Macklin placed fifth with a mark of 6.76 while Smith placed seventh in the event with a distance of 6.40m. Hamby led the way in the triple jump with his third place mark of 13.99m.
Seth Cartwright was the lone Tiger in the throws. His best performance came in the shot put when he placed third overall with a toss of 13.69m.
Campbellsville will now head into Christmas break before returning to action on January 21
st when the travel to Louisville again for the host Bellarmine University.
