KISSIMMEE, FLA. – After trailing late in the first half, Campbellsville rallied in the second half to win the NCCAA National Championship 3-1 over Judson University for the first time in program history.
The Tigers were in a deadlock battle the first 20 minutes of play. Neither team was able to get any clean looks on the goal as defenses and offenses were keeping play in the midfield.
Judson was able to strike first coming in the 30
th minute after traffic in the box led to the goal with the Eagles going into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead.
Campbellsville set the tone the first five minutes of the second half. In the first half, Campbellsville was only able to record four shots total. The team came into the second half slamming the ball down the middle collecting 17 shots while 13 of those were on frame.
The first goal came from
Antonio Quinta in the 53
rd minute with a ball at the top of the box. Campbellsville was able to capitalize immediately following the tying goal with another goal coming 13 minutes later in the 66
thminute when
Eleder Goicoechea had the game winning goal to press the Tigers lead to 2-1.
Sebastiano Musu put the final touch on the night for the Tigers when he scored the third and final goal of the night in the 84
th minute. Musu was named the top scorer of the tournament with that final goal.
Goicoechea was named the most valuable player of the tournament for the Tigers and
Tom Edge was named to the all-tournament team. Edge would set one last milestone in his final appearance for the Tigers. Edge eclipsed his 100
th cap of his career for Campbellsville beating out his assistant coach on September 25
th in the match against Shawnee State at 84 games.

The Tigers conclude the season with an overall record of 16-5-2.
