Tale of two games for CU softball, Lady Tigers win 11-1 over Grace and lose 6-1 to Asbury

WILLIAMSBURG, KY. — A tale of two games for No. 11 Campbellsville University Softball as the Lady Tigers run-ruled Grace College, 11-1, but lost to Asbury in the finale, 6-1.

Campbellsville's (3-5) offense had 13 hits in game one and took advantage of a few errors by the Lancers (0-3) to tally multiple-runs in four of the five innings.

Katy Chadwell earned the win in game one tossing three of the five innings and striking out six while only allowing one first-inning run. Courtney Patterson entered for the fourth and fifth innings to allow only one base runner and striking out two.

In game two, the Lady Tigers offense went silent when it comes to production. CU finished with six hits and loaded the bases twice in the first two innings but only scored one run while leaving 11 runners stranded overall. Asbury (1-0) pushed across five runs in the seventh inning and took advantage of a few miscues defensively.

Payton Blades started in the circle in game two throwing five innings and allowing an unearned run in the fourth inning. Chadwell (2-2) entered the final two innings and allowed five runs – four earned – while being handed the loss.

Offensively, the Lady Tigers were led by Tori Humphrey at the plate as she went 5-for-7 with three RBI and a pair of doubles. She was the lone Lady Tiger to tally multiple hits in each game.

With the split, the Lady Tigers move to 4-5 overall as CU is scheduled to host Union College on Tuesday but due to field conditions at Hord Field and Veterans Memorial Park, the game could potentially be moved to Barbourville, KY at Union. Stay tuned to CampbellsvilleTigers.com for details on the schedule change.
