GREENVILLE, S.C. – Despite Campbellsville University football's loss in their season opener to Thomas More, one of the many positives coming out of Saturday's 48-27 defeat was the performance from wide receiver
Tate Pringle as he earned the NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week.
Pringle's first game as a transfer from San Bernardino Valley College saw him lead CU with 111 receiving yards on only four catches with a pair of touchdowns. His first touchdown came on the very first play of the game as the Tigers used a bit of trickery on a double pass as he caught a double pass from
Deuce Shreve and went 74 yards for the score, 17 seconds into the game.
Later in the first quarter he caught a 12-yard touchdown pass on a fade route from
Chase Elmore as that put CU up 21-6 before the Saints were able to come back in the second quarter. His other two receptions went for 10 yards and 15 yards respectively as he earned first downs on each of those plays.
The Tigers will get back at it this Friday with another road game as they will travel to Pikeville, Ky. for a matchup with University of Pikeville at 3 p.m. ET.
