Tigers begin postseason play with MSC Opening Round game at Pikeville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Finishing the regular season at 9-15 overall and 7-14 in Mid-South Conference play, the Campbellsville University men's basketball team will open up the MSC Tournament on the road against University of Pikeville on Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET in the UPike Gym.
 
 
ATTENDANCE AND BROADCAST INFORMATION  
TIGER NOTES
  • CU's record in road games finished at 3-8 on the regular season with those three wins came at Cumberlands, Cumberland, and Lindsey Wilson during conference play.
  • The Tigers finished with a scoring average of 73.9 as a team, which laded Campbellsville at No. 8 in the conference offensively.
  • Defensively as a team, CU allowed 77.6 points per game for the 10th ranked points per game allowed mark in the MSC over the regular season.
  • Heading into the postseason, Campbellsville was able to avoid major COVID-19 issues that canceled games for many teams around the nation as CU only missed out on one MSC game due to the severe ice and snow last week.
 
SCOUTING PIKEVILLE
  • UPike finished the season 11-11 overall and 9-10 in MSC play on the season as they ended their regular season winning two of their last three against Thomas More and Lindsey Wilson with a loss to Cumberlands in the middle of those two victories.
  • The Bears faced the Tigers twice this season about two months apart as the first meeting on Dec. 8 ended in a Pikeville win at home by a score of 83-76 followed by a win in Campbellsville for UPike as they ran away with an 89-72 final.
  • Pikeville has four players averaging double figures on the season led by the 14 points per game from both Malcolm Green and Korbin Spencer with Jamir Simpson (11.1) and Joran Perry (10.8) close behind.
  • The Bears are one of the better offensive teams in the conference as they averaged 81.9 points per game as a team to rank No. 4 in the MSC in the regular season.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
  • With a win, the Tigers will move on to the quarterfinals in Bowling Green, Ky. and could matchup with any one of the top-three seeds with the teams reseeding once entering the quarterfinals.
