LADY TIGER NOTES
- Like a majority of teams at CU, the softball team has had a fair share of postponements recently but most recently played a pair of games in Williamsburg, Ky. as they split an 11-1 win over Grace College with a 6-1 loss against Asbury.
- Over their first eight games, the Lady Tigers have struggled to find offensive consistency with four games of five or more runs but the other four had either three or fewer runs scored.
- In the circle, Payton Blades (1.62 ERA) and Katy Chadwell (3.44) have combined to throw 25.2 of the team's 50 innings with commendable ERAs but are still allowing opponents to hit near .300 against them.
- At the plate, Blades (.385), Riley Hurst (.385), and Tori Humphrey (.360) have been the most consistent offensive players through their eight starts in the lineup as they provide average and power with all three slugging over .500 to start the year as well.
SCOUTING MARTIN METHODIST
- The Redhawks are 0-2 in limited action so far in 2021 as they dropped a doubleheader to Faulkner University on Tuesday by final scores of 5-1 and 7-1.
- Samantha King and Haley Barnes recorded the RBIs for MMC as they both had a pair of hits over the two games with Shelby Clifton and Hannah Hayes also recording a pair of hits in that doubleheader.
- Hayes and King are also part of the pitching staff for Martin Methodist but King struggled in her 3.2 innings pitched, picking up a loss with her and Savannah Sands both pitching 3.2 innings to give up all 12 of the runs in those games.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The Lady Tigers won't have any mid-week games scheduled for next week as they'll move right into their scheduled home opening MSC series against another conference newcomer in Freed-Hardeman University on Mar. 5-6 at Hord Softball Field.
