Early goal not enough as Lady Tigers fall in overtime 2-1 to Lindsey Wilson

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Officially finding out they were playing the Battle of Highway 55 rivalry game just hours before kickoff, the Campbellsville University women's soccer team dropped a tough 2-1 overtime game to Lindsey Wilson College Friday night.

The Lady Tigers got on the board early as Abigail Proctor scored 4:39 into the game as she received a feed from Sarah Johnston to score her first goal as a Lady Tiger. Campbellsville seemed to hold an advantage in the first half as they took seven shots compared to just three for the Blue Raiders in the opening 45 minutes.

None of those opportunities were converted on as CU really could have used that insurance as with 18 minutes remaining, LWC found the equalizer as Claudia Escobar netted the tying goal.

Neither team scored over the final minutes of the second half as the game went into extra time but it didn't go any longer than four minutes and 50 seconds as Yudaya Nakayenze scored her third goal of the season as she was able to sneak a shot by Katelyn Young for the golden goal to knock off the Lady Tigers.

Jessie Bryson was able to make her presence felt offensively, firing a game-high tying five shots but only put one on frame and wasn't able to convert for CU. Erin Riden, Milena Derougeur, and Johnston also put a shot on net but Campbellsville still came up empty looking for that second goal of the game.

The Lady Tigers' next scheduled contest is coming up on Sunday as they are scheduled to travel to Pikeville, Ky. to take on the Bears of University of Pikeville at 2 p.m. ET.
