PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – Coming off of a devastating overtime loss to rival Lindsey Wilson, the Campbellsville University women's soccer team earned a comfy 4-1 win over Shawnee State University Tuesday afternoon in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Lady Tigers scored their first three goals in the first 15:24 of the game as
Sarah Johnston (4:17),
Abigail Proctor (10:00), and
Jessie Bryson (15:24) found the back of the net rather quickly for CU to go up 3-0.
As a team, Campbellsville didn't outshoot the Bears by much as their advantage was 8-6 in the opening half. The game finished to a 16-14 shooting advantage for CU with only 10 total shots were directed on target.
Proctor added her third goal in the last two games and her second goal of the game in the 61
st minute during the second half as she was assisted on both of her goals by
Magali Brizuela on the first one and
Emma Loughman on the second.
Shawnee State added a late goal to make it 4-1 with about 15 minutes left as Ellie Aston recorded her first goal of the season. Campbellsville goalkeeper
Katelyn Young made three saves before allowing that goal as she earns her fourth win of the season in net.
Campbellsville's next matchup will come next Sunday when they face Thomas More University in Crestview Hills, Ky. at 12:30 p.m. ET.
