Hamilton sets new school record in route to qualifying for the NAIA National Championships

GREENVILLE, S.C – The Tigers had their first NAIA qualifier for the outdoor track and field championships with Jacob Hamilton's performance in the half marathon this morning.

Hamilton traveled to Greenville, South Carolina to run in the Greenville Half Marathon. He was able to set a new school record time of 1:12.36 while being able to place 25th overall in the race. He was able to hit the automatic qualifier with an NAIA A Standard time. He needed to hit at least a time of 1:13 to make the auto qualifier.

Hamilton takes over the school record from alumni Brett Pierce who set the record in 2016 at the Tom King Classic in 1:13.24.

Hamilton will now have two and a half months to prepare for the NAIA National Championships in which he will double his distance and run the marathon in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Campbellsville is back in action on the track next weekend with Sam Kiser and Brevon Whitney qualifying for the NAIA Indoor National Championships.
