GREENVILLE, S.C – The Tigers had their first NAIA qualifier for the outdoor track and field championships with
Jacob Hamilton's performance in the half marathon this morning.
Hamilton traveled to Greenville, South Carolina to run in the Greenville Half Marathon. He was able to set a new school record time of 1:12.36 while being able to place 25
th overall in the race. He was able to hit the automatic qualifier with an NAIA A Standard time. He needed to hit at least a time of 1:13 to make the auto qualifier.
Hamilton takes over the school record from alumni
Brett Pierce who set the record in 2016 at the Tom King Classic in 1:13.24.
Hamilton will now have two and a half months to prepare for the NAIA National Championships in which he will double his distance and run the marathon in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Campbellsville is back in action on the track next weekend with
Sam Kiser and
Brevon Whitney qualifying for the NAIA Indoor National Championships.
