Lady Tigers fall to second half goal 1-0 against Bethel

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Looking to earn their fourth-straight victory inside of Mid-South Conference play, the Campbellsville University women's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 result to Bethel University Sunday afternoon.

The game went scoreless for about 65 minutes until Maria Fernanda Campos finished off a cross from Ashari Bowen in the 66th minute to score the only goal of the game.

From that point on, the Lady Tigers pushed the pace offensively in the final stages of the game to try and get that equalizer, but they could not break through. Erin Riden, Olja Ivanovic, and Abigail Proctor all had close calls in the final 20 minutes, but the Wildcats keeper and defense were able to keep the ball out of the net for the shutout.

Campbellsville was able to outshoot BU in total shots with Bethel holding the shots on goal advantage, putting four shots on frame against Katelyn Young. There wasn't much Young could do on the Wildcat goal as she faced two-on-one rush where Bowen fed an open Fernanda Campos for the tap-in goal.

Ivanovic (4), Riden (2), and Rebecca Lilley (2), led the Lady Tigers in shot attempts in the game as Ivanovic was a factor in those late stages, created multiple of the team's opportunities.

Campbellsville will play one more home game this Tuesday before finishing their regular season on the road the following week. CU will host Freed-Hardeman University on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. ET for Senior Night.
