CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – In the final home game of the regular season for the Campbellsville University women's soccer team, CU earned a 2-0 victory over Freed-Hardeman Tuesday night.
Prior to the game, the Lady Tigers honored seven seniors for the 2020-21 season that included
Magali Brizuela,
Hailey Chappell,
Reagan Davidson,
Molly Hall,
Savannah Hobbs,
Sarah Johnston, and
Carson Kovalic.
The on-field team for CU honored the seniors well thoroughly outplaying the Lions for a majority of the game, outshooting FHU 17-5 and firing eight shots on goal compared to just four for Freed-Hardeman.
Campbellsville scored one goal in each half as
Abigail Proctor scored her fifth goal of the season in the 32
nd minute on an assist from
Sangmin Cha to give CU the 1-0 lead heading into halftime. It stayed 1-0 for quite a while until
Jenna Croteau scored her first goal of the year from 20 yards out to make it 2-0 in the 78
th minute.
The only Freed-Hardeman player to take more than one shot in the game was Jessica Musselman as she fired two, only one to challenge the Campbellsville keepers. Those keepers were
Katelyn Young and freshman
Irene Piazzi as Piazzi saw her first minutes of the season to make two saves in the combined shutout.
The Lady Tigers will close out their regular season with a pair of games away from home when they play Cumberland University next Sunday followed by the regular season finale at Martin Methodist on Tuesday, Mar. 23.
