Chadwell's career-high 15 Ks leads the Lady Tigers past Asbury in doubleheader sweep

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — A career-high 15 strikeouts by Katy Chadwell set the tone in game one and Lexi Miller's solo homer in game two led Campbellsville softball to a doubleheader sweep over Asbury University.

The Lady Tigers (7-5, 2-0 MSC) won game one, 2-0, and game two, 4-0.

Campbellsville's pitching staff dominated the day allowing only three hits all day. Chadwell allowed only one hit while striking out 15 – two away from the single-game record set by freshman Kelsi Pardue in 2013 with 17 against Cumberland University. Karson Williams and Courtney Patterson teamed up in game two only allowing two hits total and striking out three.

Offensively, the Lady Tigers totaled 17 hits in the two games and were led by Riley Hurst's four hits overall and scoring two runs. Payton Blades and Tori Humphrey both tallied three hits total, while Humphrey drove in one and Blades scored once.

Miller smashed her first homer of the year – in the second inning of game two – to spark a two-out rally leading to two more runs.

The Lady Tigers will now host Freed-Hardeman on Friday-Saturday, March 5-6, at Hord Field and Veterans Memorial Park. First pitch on Friday is slated for 2 p.m. ET and first pitch on Saturday is at 12 p.m.
