Baseball wins series with 22 runs in three games over Lindsey Wilson

COLUMBIA, Ky. — A series win for Campbellsville University over Lindsey Wilson evens the Tigers record at 7-7 overall and pushes CU to 6-5 inside Mid-South Conference play.

The Tigers won 10-5 but lost a 2-1 nail bitter on Saturday to the Blue Raiders. On Sunday, Campbellsville secured the series win with a 11-3 victory.

In game one, Campbellsville scored a combined nine runs in the fifth through eighth innings to dominate the contest. CU was led with two hits each from Tommy Sepulveda, Eddie Arteaga, Tyler Cox, Jeremiah Lebron, and Cale Thompson including a homer by Cox. Cox, Lebron, and Thompson all tallied a pair of RBI as well.

The pitching staff was solid for the most part as Aaron Hutchinson went 5.1 innings allowing only one earned run and striking out two. Gage Smart pitched 1.1 innings allowing two earned runs and walking four, while Trestyn DuMilieu closed it out striking out three in 2.1 innings.

In game two, Lindsey Wilson scored twice in the fourth to win the seven-inning game. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the third after a solo homer by Arteaga but that was all the offense could muster after putting together 12 hits in game one.

The Blue Raiders scored twice off starter Zack Bromstead in the fourth after a walk, wild pitch, and a pair of errors allowed both runs to score. Bromstead went the distance striking out a career-high 11 and allowed only two hits.

Game three on Sunday was much like the first on Saturday. Multi-run innings allowed the pitching staff to throw out five different arms to get work. CU scored 10 of its first from the second through the sixth inning, including a three-run fourth.

Colton Titus went 4-for-6 in game three with a run scored and RBI. Sepulveda was 2-for-4 with two RBI, Aaron Greenfield drove in two runs along with Lebron picking up two hits and a pair of RBI.

On the hill, Korren Thompson going four innings and striking out five. Braxton Davis earned the win after tossing two innings and allowed only one hit. Mason Lee, Logan Davis and Kam Robertson all pitched one frame of work allowing a combined four hits between the three.
