A combined 46 runs lead Lady Tigers past Cumberland over the Weekend

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — A combined 46 runs in four games led Campbellsville University softball to a pair of doubleheader sweeps on Saturday and Sunday over Cumberland University. 
 
The Lady Tigers won the pair on Saturday, 13-4 and 13-11, before taking both on Sunday, 9-1 and 11-6. The four wins improves Campbellsville's record to 21-7 overall and 12-2 inside Mid-South Conference play – which sits them in second play in the standings. The Lady Tigers have won 18 of their last 20 and nine in a row. 
 

Offensive Numbers this Weekend:
 
Ryley Whitney was 7-for-9 on the weekend with an RBI and seven runs scored. Riley Hurst was 5-for-12 with two RBI including a home run in game two of the series and scoring six runs herself. 
 
Payton Blades hit a pair of homers in game one and two, respectively, and went 7-for-14 over the weekend. Mia Aldridge went 6-for-11 with two homers, six RBI, and scored eight runs. Tori Humphrey had a strong Sunday going 4-for-6 with two homers and six RBI in the final two games. 
 
Freshman Keely Bowling also had a good doubleheader on Friday with four hits in six at bats including a pair of home runs and seven RBI. 
 

Pitching Numbers this Weekend:
 
In the circle, Katy Chadwell (9-3) tossed a combined nine innings allowing 10 hits and only one earned run while striking out five. Karson Williams (9-1) started in game two each day and went a combined 8.2 innings allowing 13 hits and six earned runs. 
 
Courtney Patterson appeared twice tossing three innings and allowing one earned run while earning the save in the finale on Sunday. 
 

Up Next for Campbellsville:
 
The Lady Tigers travel to Brescia University on March 26 for a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. ET. Then CU gets back in Mid-South Conference play next weekend with a make-up doubleheader at Martin Methodist on March 30 at 4 p.m. 
 
The next time CU is back at home, the Lady Tigers host University of the Cumberlands on April 2-3.
