Aldridge's clutch hitting leads Lady Tigers to series win over Freed-Hardeman

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Mia Aldridge drove in three runs in game four of the Mid-South Conference series against Freed-Hardeman to secure Campbellsville series win over Freed-Hardeman University.

Campbellsville won the series with three wins in two days, 2-1 in both games on Friday, but the Lions spoiled the sweep in game three of the series, 3-1. CU came back to win game four, 3-1, thanks to Aldridge's clutch hitting.

In game one, the lone run CU could muster was a solo round tripper by Lexi Miller – her second of the season. But the duo of Chloe Winters and Brittany Adair struck out a combined eight batters and allowed only five hits. Adair earned the victory in relief to improve to 5-1.

Payton Blades started in the circle but lasted only three innings before giving way to Courtney Patterson for the final four innings. Blades allowed only one hit and struck out one Lion while throwing 43 pitches in four innings.

Leading 1-0, CU's Patterson entered the fourth and the damage came in the fifth and sixth innings for Freed-Hardeman. Annalise Jarnagin hit a two-run homer – her third of the year – to right field then the Lions played small ball in the sixth to scratch an insurance run. A double by Kennedy Harris to left field and sac bunt by Sophie Dunavant led to an RBI ground out by Caitlin Mitchell.

In game two, Karson Williams worked into the fourth inning before giving way to Katy Chadwell in the circle. The Lions took advantage of two errors in the fourth inning to score their lone run but it was CU answering to take the lead. A leadoff error allowed Tori Humphrey to reach then Ryley Whitney delivered a sac bunt that turned into a single. Both were lifted for pinch runners, Hadlee Carter and Sam McKee, respectfully. After a sac bunt by Lexi Miller moved runners to second and third with one out, the Lions went to Adair out of the bullpen. Aldridge turned on a ball down the left field line to clear the bases.

Aldridge drove in another for an insurance run in the sixth inning. A two-out walk and stolen bases by Miller led to an Aldridge RBI single up the middle.

Katy Chadwell earned her fifth victory of the year after throwing 3.1 innings and striking out three. Williams finished going 3.2 innings, allowing four hits and one unearned run.
