CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville University women's soccer team earned their third-straight win with a 3-1 victory at home over Georgetown College.
CU gave up the first goal of the game in just the fourth minute of the game as Maggie Vanluit scored after a loose ball fell to her in the scramble as she finished it on the left side of the goal.
It took a while for Campbellsville to answer to tie the game as
Emma Loughman scored her first goal of her CU career in the 41
st minute to even the score at 1-1 heading into the halftime break.
In the second half, Campbellsville was able to take advantage of their opportunities to first score in the 56
th minute as
Rebecca Lilley scored from an
Abigail Proctor through ball.
CU added an insurance goal in the 76
th minute as
Jessie Bryson scored her fifth goal of the season as she beat the keeper in a nice one-on-one effort to extend the Campbellsville lead to 3-1.
After allowing the early goal, Campbellsville's keeper
Katelyn Young did a good job, making three saves in the rest of the game to keep Georgetown off the board for the remaining 86 minutes of the game.
Campbellsville will play two more home games in a row following Tuesday's night's match when they host Bethel and Freed-Hardeman next Sunday and Tuesday respectively.
