CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – In what has been an exciting week for the Campbellsville University golf programs, the future leadership of the programs has been decided as Athletic Director Jim Hardy announces the hiring of Rick Davis to be the head coach for both men's and women's golf starting in the 2021-22 season.
 
"We are excited to announce that Rick Davis will join the CU Athletic Department family as our new Full-time, Head Men's and Women's Golf coach," Hardy said. "Rick brings with him a wealth of coaching experience at the high school level in both baseball and golf, as he has led Green County High School's golf team to a couple of state titles."
 
Davis will hold the new full time position heading up both programs after the coaching jobs had been split between two part time positions. The retirement of current men's head coach Jim Ward helped Campbellsville choose to go in a different direction with the hiring of Davis.
 
"We will definitely miss Jim Ward and Casey Young who were part-time coaches who decided to pursue other interests," Hardy said. "We do feel blessed, however, to be able to acquire a coach with the knowledge and experience of Rick Davis. We welcome him to our CU Athletic Department Family."
 
With the arrival of Davis to CU to lead both programs, current women's golf head coach Michaela Jarman will be stepping down from her head coaching role to assist Davis with both teams and her role within CU Game Operations will increase.

"Michaela has been such a great addition to our athletic department staff," Hardy said. "She has been serving as head women's golf coach for the past year. Starting this July Michaela will transition to assistant men's and somen's golf coach to continue the stability she has created in our women's program and help in whatever way she is needed with the new head coach Rick Davis in both men's and women's golf. Michaela will be taking on more duties in my office as Director of Event Management in Athletics to fill some of the void left by Eric Graves since he moved to full-time bowling coach. She does a great job and we are fortunate to have a young person of her caliber on our staff with experience in game management. Michaela served as an intern with the Kentucky High School Athletic Association and has worked in our athletic offices now for two years in game operations."

 
Davis is a graduate of University of Kentucky where he earned his bachelor's degree before earning his master's degree from Campbellsville as both degrees had an emphasis in Health and Physical Education.
 
Davis had been the head coach for the Green County High School girls golf team since 2003 up until this past season where the Lady Dragons won KHSAA State Championships in 2009 and 2010 while earning All A Classic Championships in 2009, 2011, and 2012. GCHS also earned KHSAA State Runner-Up in 2008, 2011, and 2016 while being the All A Classic Runner-Up in 2010, 2016, and 2018.
 
Davis was named the KHSSA Girls Golf Coach of the Year in both 2009 and 2010 when GCHS won state titles as he was the Region 4 Girls Golf Coach of the Year seven out of eight-straight years in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, and 2015.
 
He has also worked as the head baseball coach at GCHS from 2008 until this current year where he led the Dragons to two KHSAA District Championships in 2013 and 2014.
 
Since 2008, Davis has been the Kentucky Region 4 Girls Golf Director and held a place on the KHSAA Golf Coaches Association Board of Directors from 2010 until this season while serving on the Hall of Fame Committee and All State Committee since 2017 and 2014 respectively.
