Tiger soccer seeks revenge for regular season loss as they face Cumberland in MSC quarterfinals

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – A week between the opening round and quarterfinals for the Campbellsville University men's soccer team sees a battle between CU schools in the Mid-South Conference quarterfinals as the Tigers will face Cumberland University.
 
The entirety of the men's soccer tournament will be hosted at Finley Stadium in Campbellsville with the game between the Phoenix and Tigers taking place at 1:30 p.m. ET on Friday as the second game of the day.
 
All coverage for the tournament will come out of Campbellsville University outlets as video streams will air for free at www.campbellsvilletigers.com/watch and live stats will be available at www.campbellsvillestats.com.
 
TIGER NOTES
  • Campblelsville picked up back-to-back wins against Pikeville over their last two, including an opening round 3-0 win over the Bears at Finley Stadium last Friday.
  • Over the two games, Kalvin Semedo scored three goals including the opeing goal of the opening round game in the fifth minute.
  • Semedo and Eleder Goicoechea combined for two of the three goals as Goicoechea picked up the assist on the Semedo goal and Semedo had the primary goal on a Goicoechea goal in the 63rd minute.
  • Goalkeeper Jeremi Campagnolo didn't have much work that he needed to do in either game but was able to pick up back-to-back shutouts while making a save apiece in each game.
 
SCOUTING CUMBERLAND
  • The Phoenix finished the regular season with a 5-4-1 record as they only played their Mid-South Conference schedule in the 2020 season during the spring of 2021.
  • These two teams faced off in Lebanon, Tenn. during the regular season as Cumberland earned a 4-2 win, scoring the final four goals of the game after the Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the first half.
  • Bakary Bagayoko scored 15 goals on the season, which led the Mid-South Conference as he had two more goals than the next highest finisher.
  • Goalkeepers Carl Koester and Nicklas Rulle split time in net with both starting exactly half of their contests with Rulle making more saves at 28 on the season while allowing only eight goals.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
  • With a win, the Tigers will head to the semifinals to be played at 1:30 p.m. ET at Finley Stadium on Saturday.
  • Campbellsville would play the winner between No. 1 Bethel and No. 8 Georgetown, which will be played prior to the Campbellsville and Cumberland game.
