Pringle, Carrothers, and Corley lead Fighting Tigers in NCCAA All-America selections for 2020 performance

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Campbellsville University football team has more honors coming down from the 2020 season as six members of the Fighting Tigers earned NCCAA All-America honors.

The six players from CU include first team selections Tate Pringle, Micah Corley, and Jon Carrothers with all three second team honors coming from the defensive side of the ball in linebacker Andrew Bennett along with defensive backs Kobie Reese and Malcolm Walker.

Some would say that Pringle was the offense for the Tigers this season as he hauled in 38 receptions on the season for 529 yards and eight touchdowns. His eight reception touchdowns are 75 percent of the receiving touchdowns on the year as CU threw for a total of 12 passing touchdowns. Pringle also served as the Tigers main punter where he averaged 38.6 yards per punt and was a strong fake punt threat, rushing for a 70-yard touchdown on a fake punt against Cumberlands for the team's only score in the game

Corley, originally from Campbellsville, Ky., transferred back to his hometown for his final two seasons and had a stellar senior campaign. He finished with 44 tackles, nine tackles for loss and seven saves. His nine tackles for loss and seven sacks all were team highs. Corley had a span of gathering his sacks in the middle of the spring after picking up a career-high 3.5 sacks against Georgetown College and then turned around the following week and earned three more against University of the Cumberlands.

For Carrothers, he finished the 2020 season, his first at CU, with 76 total tackles, which was 30 more than the next highest totals. His 25 solo tackles led the team by a slim margin of just two tackles as he was in on 51 more assisted tackles, over 20 more than any other player for the Tigers. The transfer linebacker also recorded five and a half tackles for a loss with two sacks and adding a pass break up on the season as he played and started in all seven games.

Bennett lined up next to Carrothers at the linebacker position to finish the season as the second-leading tackler for the Tigers with 46 tackles, 16 solo tackles and 30 assisted tackles while recovering three fumbles for 73 return yards as he also had an interception and one half of a sack.

Reese and Walker were the two starting corner backs on the outside for the majority of the season as both had over 25 tackles and five or more passes defended. Reese had more tackles at 35 compared to 26 for Walker as Walker defended eight passes with seven pass breakups and an interception with Reese finishing the season with five pass breakups.
