GREENVILLE, ILL. – After two days of competition the Tigers find themselves sitting in third place at the NCCAA National Championship.
Campbellsville had two separate events that led to 32 total points and 16 points per event. The first came in the triple jump.
Brevon Whitney claimed his first national title with a jump of 14.20m while his teammate
David Young claimed the bronze medal with a mark of 13.40.
Later on in the meet, under the night sky and the gas stadium lights freshman
Shawn Little was able to claim his first national title as well as hit an NAIA B standard with his winning time of 31:35.26 in the 10,000m run. Senior
Jacob Hamilton came in third and was able to come away with an All-American to his name at 33:10.99.
In the discus
Isaac Kern was able to secure another field event All-American for the Tigers. Kern placed runner-up in the event with a distance of 44.37.
Caleb Costin and
Jeremiah Parker were able to assist Kern in garnishing points. Costin placed fifth with a throw of 41.46m and Parker placed sixth with a throw of 40.02m.
Jarrett Crawford was the lone Tiger to score in the javelin throw. Crawford threw for a new season best mark of 44.11m.
After the 10 events in the decathlon
Logan Bargo and
Cainan Daniels collected three points total from the event. Bargo placed seventh with a total of 3738 points and Daniels was eighth with 3694 points.
Campbellsville rounded out scoring on the day with the 4x800m relay. Crawford,
Aiden Tucker,
Collin Sheffield,
Chaise Hill were able to come away with a sixth place finishing time of 8:22.65.
Darionta Bell will head into the 200m final Friday afternoon after having the fastest time in the prelims with a time of 22.07.
Campbellsville controls their own fate heading into the final day. They hold 52 points while Grace College has the lead with 66 team points.
