Parrott at NAIA Round 3 5-27-21

Women's Golf CU Athletics

Parrott grinds through third round 75 (+3) to stay near the top of the NAIA Championship leaderboard

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Through strong winds and just beating a weather delay at the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship, Campbellsville University's Gracie Parrott shot a 75 (+3) in Thursday's third round at Rose Creek Golf Course.

Parrott played in conditions that included wind speeds of up to over 20 miles per hour as it had various effects on the golf balls during the round. Her group and a number of others that were able to tee off early in the morning did finish up their 18 holes, but play was suspended around 1:40 p.m. CT due to inclement weather in the area.

For the tournament, Parrott has the lowest score currently in the clubhouse after three rounds with her 217 (+1) to be in a tie for second, two shots back of the leader.

At the time of Parrott's round ending, the only player who remains under par for the whole tournament as Keiser University's Serra Evrengil as the individual leader alone at -1. Taylor University's Taylor French is also tied with Parrott at +1 for the tournament as both Evrengil and French were stopped on the 13th hole during the third round.

For the third-straight round, Parrott played better on holes 10-18 as she shot an even 36 on the back nine on Thursday with only a bogey on 13 and a finishing up her round with a birdie on 18. Par threes as a whole gave Parrott trouble on the day as she bogeyed three of the four par threes on holes 13, four, and seven.

Over the last two rounds, the putter has been a bit of a frustration for Parrott as she has had opportunities for birdie but has not been able to roll them in. The birdie on 18 may a momentum changer as she rolled in about a 12-footer that just snuck in for her lone birdie of the day.

The third round was officially suspended for the rest of Thursday with some players still needing to complete as many as seven holes to complete their rounds. Resumption of the round on Friday will begin at 11 a.m. CT while the fourth round also starts for players who completed the third round.

Pairings will not be reseeded based off scores after the third round so Parrott will start her final round at 7:30 on the first hole with William Jessup's Gurman Knight (218) and Bellevue's Allison Temple (229) with the players in the third round to continue with their fourth round following immediately after they finish their third round.
