CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – As postseason recognitions roll in from the various affiliations, Campbellsville University women's volleyball junior
Paige Merrick was recognized by the NAIA, NCCAA and AVCA, earning different All-America honors status for the respective organizations.
For the NCCAA, Merrick was named to their All-America First Team for the first time in her career as her AVCA recognition comes as an All-America Honorable Mention after being selected to the All-Southeast Region Team last week. As for the NAIA, Merrick was named Honorable Mention and is the 13th NAIA All-American in program history.
Merrick had a stellar all-around season as the team's setter finishing with 823 assists, 322 digs, and 111 kills as she recorded 19 double-doubles and a triple-double on the year. This is the first season Merrick earns the First Team honor after finishing as an All-MSC Second Team selection each of her first two seasons at CU.
Due to the altered 2020 season for all of fall sports, including the women's volleyball schedule being played mainly in the spring of 2021, Merrick and the rest of her teammates have been granted an extra year of eligibility. So with the 2020 season meant to be Merrick's junior season, she could remain on the Lady Tigers' roster for the 2021 and 2022 season, if she so chooses.
The Lady Tigers had no seniors in their 2020 class so they will be expected to return their full roster for the 2021 season including adding some incoming freshman
