CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – In what was one of the most unnatural seasons for the Campbellsville University men's soccer team, six Tigers were able to receive postseason honors from the NCCAA with four earning All-America Second Team status.
The four NCCAA All-America Second Team selections included defender
Connor Grant, midfielder
Tom Edge, and forwards
Eleder Goicoechea and
Sebastiano Musu, Goicoechea earned the All-America honor after being named the Mid-East Region Player of the Year. All four made the All Mid-East Region Team along with defender
Marc Boye and goalkeeper
Jeremi Campagnolo.
Head Coach
Adam Preston also earned the Mid-East Region Coach of the Year honor after leading the Tigers to winning the Mid-East Regional Championship in the fall and eventually finishing with an 11-5-3 overall record for the 2020 season.
On the defensive side of the ball, Grant Boye and Campagnolo have held teams to scoring only 17 times this season.
Campagnolo has been able to collect 52 saves with having a 73 percent save percentage on the season.
Boye and Grant have made an impact on the offensive side of the ball during free kicks and corner kicks. Boye has been able to find the back of the net three separate times this season while Grant has collected one assist.
Boye, Campagnolo, and Grant have started in all 18 of the Tigers matches this season.
On the offensive side of the ball, it was led by Musu and Goicoechea. The duo combined for 21 goals together.
Musu had 11 goals and collected three assists while Goicoechea had 10 goals and five assists. The two have been a problem for keepers this season having 51 shots on goal.
Edge is one of six Tigers who have played and started in all 18 matches this season. He has netted six goals and 12 shots on goal this season.
The Tigers finished the 2020 season, played in the spring of 2021, with an 11-5-3 overall record, finishing their season in the Mid-South Conference Tournament quarterfinals.
