MSC Title Preview: Rivalries all around as Lady Tigers will face Georgetown or Lindsey Wilson on Saturday for the Title

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. — Lady Tiger softball is one win away from bringing home Mid-South Conference Tournament title number six as the championship game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET at Sparks Park in Columbia.

The top-seeded Lady Tigers boast a 39-11 record and have taken down No. 5 seed Georgetown College, 5-1, and No. 2-seed Lindsey Wilson, 7-4. There will be a rematch as both Georgetown and Lindsey Wilson are playing today at 2 p.m. ET in the loser's bracket finals – the winner will advance to play Campbellsville.

Coverage begins on the CU Sports Network at 4:15 p.m. as Jordan Alves will broadcast the rivalry matchup.

Tickets:
  • Tickets are provided on a game-by-game basis. Fans will need to purchase tickets for each game - https://www.mid-southconference.org/hometown-ticketing
  • Upon arriving at Sparks Park, fans will be symptom and temperature checked. Face masks are required to be worn at all times while in the facility. Following the conclusion of each game, spectators will be asked to clear the stadium to allow the staff to prepare for the next game.
How did Campbellsville get here?
  • The Lady Tigers are entering after winning 5-1 over Georgetown College on Thursday night and 7-4 over Lindsey Wilson on Friday.
  • Against Georgetown, the Lady Tigers had stellar defense, dominant pitching, and timely hitting. Ryley Whitney, the MSC Player of the Year, hit a three-run home run, Mia Aldridge delivered an RBI double and Ryleigh Oldham also had an RBI base knock.
  • Katy Chadwell went the distance allowing only a leadoff home run to score before sitting down 20 of the final 22 batters she faced.
  • Against Lindsey Wilson, it was the long ball, double plays, and solid pitching down the stretch that pushed the Lady Tigers past NAIA No. 5 Lindsey Wilson.
  • Payton Blades had one of the biggest hits in her career with a two-RBI two-out single up the middle to give CU a 4-3 lead over LWC in the third.
  • Lexi Miller hit two round trippers – her fourth and fifth of the season – including a two-run homer in the sixth inning.
  • Ryleigh Oldham provided her first homer – a solo shot – also in the sixth inning to put the icing on the cake.
  • CU turned a pair of crucial double plays in the third and fourth innings to work out of jams.
  • Katy Chadwell sat down 11 of the final 12 batters she faced to earn her 19th win of the year.
Will it be Katy Chadwell or Karson Williams in the circle?
  • Chadwell has tossed both games and outside of a few early innings, she's been terrific in her first Mid-South Conference Tournament action.
  • Through two games, Chadwell has gone 14 innings allowing 14 hits and only four earned runs while striking out two – two of those four runs have come in the first inning. CU's defense has been solid behind her with double plays and diving grabs.
  • Karson Williams has yet to throw a pitch in a Mid-South Conference Tournament in her career, but the southpaw has the numbers stating she's ready to go if called upon.
  • On the season, Williams is 17-3 with a 2.93 ERA and has tossed 107.1 innings during her senior season. In her last four starts, Williams has been solid striking out 16 batters including a career-high 119 pitch performance against Thomas More to secure CU's regular season title and the No. 1 seed.

  • Saturday would mark the 79th meeting between the two programs. CU leads the series, 41-37.
