CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – In their first home match of the 2021 season, the Campbellsville University women's volleyball team recorded a sweep as they grabbed the 3-0 win over Keiser University.
The Lady Tigers defeated Keiser in straight sets 25-18, 25-21, and 25-16. This was a big win for the Lady Tigers carrying over momentum from the previous weekend's Vette City Classic where they emerged with a 3-1 record.
It was a tremendous morning for the Cox's Creek, Kentucky native
Cierra Merrick. She recorded 12 kills on 17 attacks for a kill percentage of .529. The freshman middle blocker assisted on four blocks as well.
Molly Shannon, another freshman who was just voted to the Vette City Classic All-Tournament Team, was just behind Merrick in kills with 10.
Cierra wasn't the only Merrick to impress in the match. Her sister,
Paige Merrick, logged 26 assists leading the way for the Lady Tigers while also having four kills, three digs, and two block assists.
The transfer graduate student,
Salma Gonzalez-Sosa, made her first start for Campbellsville. She recorded stats all over the box score with eight kills, an ace, 20 total attacks, six digs, and three block assists.
