CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – An onslaught of goals prove too much for West Virginia Tech as The Lady Tigers cruise to an 8-0 victory.
Following the hour delay, Campbellsville women's soccer came out to the pitch focused and ready to play. From the outset, The Lady Tigers asserted their will on the game. In just the first five minutes Campbellsville was pressuring and took three shots. The first goal was junior midfielder
Sangmin Cha's rebound attack in the tenth minute after initial attempts by freshmen forward
Angeline Kieh and Cha herself. That goal was Cha's fourth of the season so far.
The goal opened wide for the Lady Tigers after that point. Despite Kieh connecting with the post in the 19
th minute, that would lead to a fruitful corner kick. Junior midfielder
Olja Ivanovic would float in a goal from the corner after deflecting off the keeper's hand. Only a minute later
Angeline Kieh would find junior forward
Rebecca Lilley on a breakaway for the goal.
Then, in the 25
th minute, junior forward
Jessie Bryson connected with the back of the net. The goals kept coming in the 29
th minute when Kieh launched a bomb that flew over the keeper and then in the 35
th minute when Bryson slid the ball to senior forward
Braxton Gentry who finished the play.
The second half wouldn't be as eventful as the first. West Virginia Tech would record their first shot of the game in the 63
rd minute.
The Lady Tigers were defensive stalwarts tonight. Though the offense slowed, still Kieh and Bryson would add a second goal to both their totals.
Allison Sekura made the pass to Bryson with under ten minutes remaining for the last score of the night. The final horn sounded on a 8-0 victory and a 29-to-one shot advantage for Campbellsville.
Lady Tigers will return to action at home when they host (RV) Georgia Gwinnett College on September 16
th at 6 p.m. ET.
