Campbellsville wins big 3-0 victory despite adversity against (RV) Georgia Gwinnett

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Lady Tigers extended their winning streak with a 3-0 win over (RV) Georgia Gwinnett. Campbellsville battled adversity early in the first half, playing with a man down the entire second half.

In the 20th minute action, Campbellsville would strike first. Ola Orelesi had a wide-open frame, but only found the left post. Lina Berrah would fly on the wing, delivering a dime to the foot of Angeline Kieh. That goal was Kieh's fifth and Berrah's third assist of the season respectively.

The intensity continued to grow as the Lady Tigers maintained possession. 14 minutes later, Campbellsville built up an attack with Jeana Croteau. She would switch to the right side as Jessie Bryson drove into the box, connecting with Sangmin Cha for goal number two. With that connection, Bryson's assists total climbed to four for the season and Cha's goal total rose to five.

The Lady Tigers had complete control of the match until the 38th minute of action. Angeline Kieh would pick up a straight red card causing CU to play a man down for the remainder of the contest. Despite this challenge, Campbellsville locked down their defense and took a 2-0 lead into the intermission.

A tale of two halves would switch as Georgia Gwinnett fired 15 shots in the second 45. The freshman Doeschka Birnage stood strong as the last line of defense. She tallied eight saves and completed the clean sheet.

The dagger came in the 73rd minute when Jenna Croteau dribbled the ball 40 yards to the right edge before delivering a crucial cross to Rebecca Lilley, the first runner in the box, who tapped it backwards to Lina Berrah for score number three of the night for The Lady Tigers. This was the only shot of the half for Campbellsville and they made it count. Lilley and Croteau picked up their first assists on the season while Berrah scored her third.

Campbellsville completed the shutout and improved to 4-1 on the season. The Lady Tigers start Mid-South Conference play next Tuesday when they welcome Bears of Pikeville to Finley Stadium. Kickoff is set to start at 5:30 pm ET.
