Box Score

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The Fighting Tigers football team traveled to the University of Pikeville for a Saturday afternoon game. Campbellsville dropped the Bears 66-41.

Campbellsville made their mark in their opening drive with a Tiger Touchdown. After a few completed passes from Jagger Gillis and rushes toward the endzone, Tre' Bass rushed for a 1-yard touchdown. Pikeville did not reciprocate with a touchdown of their own in their following drive. Nearing the end of the quarter, the Bears acquired a touchdown to inch up their trail.

Entering the second quarter, Pikeville jumped out again with another touchdown to put themselves in the lead. In the Bears next drive, they amassed another touchdown which doubled their lead above the Tigers. Campbellsville would not go down without a fight as Gillis continued to complete crucial passes to his teammates. After receiving a pass, Andre Siler ran into the Pikeville endzone for another Tiger touchdown. Pikeville found themselves on top of the Tigers again with a 44-yard touchdown. As half time approached, the Tigers were down 27-20.

At the half, the Tigers had more first downs although they had fell short in the first half. Campbellsville totaled 16 first downs compared to Pikeville's 10. Both teams passing yards were in close range of the other, however, the Bears totaled more (UPIKE 218, CU 189). Campbellsville lacked in receiving yards with a 11.1 average to the Bears 21.8 average.

Pikeville came out in the third quarter to score another touchdown. Moments later, the Bears doubled back for another touchdown to increase the Tiger deficit. Campbellsville did not find relief as Pikeville increased their trail once more. The Tigers found consolation when Gillis completed a pass to Siler for a 43-yard Campbellsville touchdown. With another touchdown under their belt, the Bears entered the final quarter with a 54-34 lead over the Tigers.

The final quarter consisted of a barter between the Tigers and the Bears with a stall in touchdowns. The Tigers did not lose sight of the end goal as they scored a touchdown with five-minutes to go. Pikeville performed their final retaliation shortly after and defeated the Tigers 66-41.

Campbellsville will host their final home game of the regular season next Saturday, October 29th. The Tigers will compete against the #11 Georgetown College at Finley Stadium beginning at 6 P.M. ET.
