CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The (RV) Campbellsville Lady Tigers took the pitch Wednesday afternoon facing the Tigers of Georgetown College. The conference match-up saw a stifling Lady Tiger offense in the second half that pushed the Lady Tigers to a 7-0 shutout over Georgetown. This win pushed Campbellsville into an even 4-4 on the season and 2-2 in conference play.
In the first half, Campbellsville got off to an aggressive start with a huge break-away goal from Agatha Nineme. After crossing an opposing defender Nimene was left one-on-one with the rival keeper and was able to hit the back of the net in the 9
th minute. The rest of the half was a defensive battle with Campbellsville and Georgetown trading possession back-and-forth through the remainder.
Those first half shots would pale in comparison to those both teams unleashed in the second half: Campbellsville posted 13 and Georgetown had 8 of their own. The Lady Tigers put things together quickly when
Angeline Kieh got in on her first goal in the 48
th minute. She was able to slide past the goalkeeper on an assist from
Chloe Holt to put the score up to 2-0. Campbellsville continued their dominance when they added another score in the 70
th minute from the back line defender
Lauren Woodcock to get her first goal of the season off of a rebounded header from
Jenna Croteau. Shortly after the possession with the score, Nimene garnered her second goal of the night in the 74th minute blowing past her defender and going one-on-one with the goalkeeper putting the Lady Tigers up 4-0. Seven minutes later in the 81
st minute, Campbellsville continued their onslaught of goals with Kieh getting her second goal of the match beating the goal keeper to push Campbellsville to 5-0 on the game.
Sydney Martin extended the Lady Tigers lead to 6-0 as she bent the ball into the net from the right side in the 84
th minute. Campbellsville continued with their rigid defense forcing a huge turnover that led to a break with Nimene netting her 3
rd goal for a hat trick in the 88th minute. The horn blew and the Lady Tigers ended the match to a huge 7-0 advantage.
Campbellsville's next match will be another conference match up with the Shawnee State Bears on October 8
